PLANO DONATIONS REACH ARUL ILLAM FOSTER HOME IN CHENNAI!

September 2017

Bright Rays volunteers visited Arul Illam Foster Home and donated clothes collected from our clothes drive in Plano, Texas, earlier in the year. This foster home provides a home to more than 50 children, from ages 4 to 18, who come from extremely underprivileged backgrounds. Most of the children in the home do not have parents and their guardians are too poor to care for them.

The home's main draw is the fact that they stress the importance of education to the kids and motivate them to achieve high goals in their life. The home makes sure they provide the support that the children need after high school to earn an advanced degree and help them become sought after professionals in the society.

Bright Rays donated the clothes collected from our second neighborhood drive in Plano, Texas to this foster home. We are very grateful to our Plano donors for their generosity!

BRIGHT RAYS SPONSORED DEEPAVALI CELEBRATIONS AT ARUL ILAM!

October 2017

We wanted to do something nice for the bright yet underprivileged children of the Arul Ilam Foster Home. So, Bright Rays planned and co-sponsored a full Deepavali experience for the kids. It started with shopping for new clothes. The foster home is in the outskirts of Chennai, thus taxis were arranged to take the children to the shopping mall. The children picked out new clothes and shopped for more than six hours. This is the first time in 8 years that they have actually gone shopping to buy new clothes, as they are mostly used to wearing used clothes given as donations. After shopping, they all went to eat at a restaurant which they loved and enjoyed every minute of the outing. On Diwali day, celebrations included fireworks, cultural events, and a grand Deepavali meal. Here are some photos and videos of the event, we hope the smiles on the children’s faces brings you as much joy as it did for us!

This foster home has about 50 children and is located in the outskirts of Chennai.

BRIGHT RAYS SPONSORED THANKSGIVING DINNER FOR THE FOSTER CHILDREN

November 2017

Thanksgiving, a day of giving thanks for all of our blessings and enjoying a feast with family and friends. Bright Rays wanted the children at Arul Illam Foster Home in Chennai to also have the same experience. These children have never dined at a fancy restaurant in their lives, so Bright Rays arranged for them to have dinner together at a Chinese restaurant. The children were beyond excited and really enjoyed the whole experience. We video chatted with them when they were at the restaurant and shared their happiness.

Arul Illam Foster Home in Chennai has about 50 children, from 4 to 18 years. These children not only come from very underprivileged homes, but have also lost their parents. Their guardians do not have the resources to care for them, so they came to this foster home.
