PLANO CLOTHES DRIVE-1 CONDUCTED BY BRIGHT RAYS

Bright Rays kicked off 2017 summer by conducting a very successful donation drive with the help of our generous city of Plano community! We requested Plano residents to donate gently used clothes, shoes, school supplies and water bottles in early June. Their response was overwhelming and we were able to collect 150 pounds of donations in a short period of time.
These donations will be given to the needy in India. Bright Rays volunteers personally interact with the economically disadvantaged, understand their needs and support them.

PLANO CLOTHES DRIVE-2 CONDUCTED BY BRIGHT RAYS

Bright Rays collected 75 pounds of clothes through the second clothes drive conducted in Plano, Texas, USA. This time, we decided to give the donations to the Arul Illam Foster Home in Chennai, India.
Bright Rays now has a strong team of volunteers comprising of family and friends. When I started Bright Rays, my main aim was to give back to the community in some way. We have touched the lives of so many needy people in a variety of ways.
For our clothes drives, Bright Rays volunteers in Plano collect, sort, label and pack the donations that will be useful to the needy. We depend solely on volunteers to take these donations from U.S.A to India as part of their personal luggage since international shipping costs are extremely cost prohibitive. Finally, local volunteers identify the underprivileged and deliver the donations. We also make it a priority to provide emotional support and try to consistently help them. We have noticed that consistent support has made a huge difference, it boosts their confidence and makes them feel loved.

PLANO CLOTHES DRIVE-3 CONDUCTED BY BRIGHT RAYS

Bright Rays collected about 60 pounds of gently used clothes and shoes in our third clothes drive. Our kind neighbors in Plano, Texas reach out to us, whenever they have things to donate. A special shout-out to the generous Plano donors for the useful donations that the underprivileged really appreciate. We sort, bundle and label these donations which are then taken to India by Bright Rays volunteers as part of their personal luggage. Shipping these donations is not cost effective and hence we have to rely solely on volunteers.
Bright Rays volunteers in India hand-pick truly deserving people to donate to. We also interact with them and provide them with much needed emotional support. Instead of ending up in landfills, these closes are put to good use by people who are desperately in need of support.

PLANO CLOTHES DRIVE-4 CONDUCTED BY BRIGHT RAYS

Bright Rays recently concluded it’s fourth clothes drive in Plano, Texas, USA. The response to the drive from Plano residents was tremendous and we were able to collect more than 100 pounds of gently used clothes. Bright Rays volunteers personally collected these donations and sorted and bundled them according to age and gender. The donations were then sent to New Delhi with our volunteer’s personal luggage as shipping is cost prohibitive.
Bright Rays volunteers in New Delhi will hand deliver these clothes to the needy. Our volunteers make an effort to identify people for whom these donations truly make a difference, such as daily wage construction workers, homeless people, orphans and economically underprivileged families. They also provide them with much needed emotional support so that they feel loved.
At Bright Rays, we feel very fortunate to have touched the lives of hundreds of people through our several clothes drives. All this would not be possible without our Plano residents. Bright Rays is very thankful for their kind donations!
